(This page is not all comfortable reading. The tone gets more optimistic a few paragraphs down…)
Day by day the ability of our planet to sustain the miraculous complexity of life that we grew up with is eroded by human activity, my activity, your activity. As a species and society we are heading towards a tipping point, which if it happens will result in many people dying (not just them over there…your family, your friends), and many species disappearing.
Collectively we are in a little boat gunning towards the edge of a waterfall. Our eyes gaze fixedly at consumer carrots on a stick rather than the river around us.
This is a very difficult fact to consider. The problem seems so great the consequences so awful, and daily tasks are so pressing. There are millions of comfortable, delicious, shiny consumer carrots on offer to distract us, no wonder it is easy to forget all about it.
It is easy to think that to make a change would just rock the boat. Who wants point out that the carrots could kill us off, especially when most of the people around you work to make or sell carrots – so they can get different carrots so they don’t need to look at where the water falls away, and hear the roar of it’s crashing down.
That’s the bad news.
The good news is that there are a thousand things that we can each do to change the situation, and that the changes we make can be a source of pleausure. There can be a life after consumer carrots, that is more appetising, more satisfying, more creative, more fun, joyful, deeper, and sexier. It will make your eyes shine and pump tingling aliveness through your nervous system, which really should be your everyday nature.
It also has the possibility of lasting a lot, lot longer.
When you change this way it is not rocking the boat, it is steering the boat.
Millions of people recognise the need for this change and have started taking action already.
This site is about my quest to change how I live, and what I do to make it easier for other people to have the same fun whether as friends, family or part of a company.
If you recognise the need for change, and you’re not sure what to do keep reading…
